Network

A network your team never has to think about

We set up and manage routers, switches and Wi-Fi so internet and internal access are reliable in every room and on every site.

What it is

Network explained

A slow or unreliable network affects everyone, all day. We design, install and look after the equipment that connects your business, and we separate systems that should not share a network, which is also a common requirement for payment card compliance.

NETWORK UNDER CONTROL
same office, now designed, secured and watched

Designed around your office

Switching, cabling and Wi-Fi planned for how people actually work.

Secured at the edge

Firewall, VPN and traffic filtering set up and kept updated.

Resilient

A second connection keeps you online if the main line fails.

Watched and documented

Links and devices monitored, changes written down.

Core network

What we do for you

01

Routers and switches

Equipment chosen, configured and maintained for your size of business.

02

Wi-Fi access points

Coverage planned so staff and guests stay connected.

03

Network segmentation

Sensitive systems separated from guest and general traffic, for example for PCI DSS.

04

Monitoring and support

Faults spotted early and fixed by a team that knows your setup.

Network scan

What a network health check looks at

Illustrative example: we scan, flag what is wrong, then fix it.

Services in depth

What our network services include, in detail

From the first survey to ongoing monitoring, here is what each part of a network service covers.

01

Design and structured LAN

A network designed around how your office works, with room to grow and no mystery cables.

  • Switching and VLAN design to keep traffic organised
  • Structured cabling to desks, rooms and devices
  • Comms room and cabinet tidy-up and labelling
  • Clear diagrams of what is connected to what
02

Firewalls, VPN and remote access

The edge of your network, set up so staff can work from anywhere and everything else stays out.

  • Business firewall setup and rule review
  • Secure VPN and remote access for hybrid teams
  • Content and threat filtering at the gateway
  • Firmware updates and configuration backups
03

Wi-Fi design and guest access

Wi-Fi that works in every room, with guests kept apart from your business systems.

  • Wi-Fi surveys before and after installation
  • Access point placement, channels and roaming
  • Separate guest and staff networks
  • Support for printers, handsets and other devices
04

Internet, resilience and failover

If your main line fails, the office stays online. We deal with providers so you do not have to.

  • Broadband, fibre and leased line liaison
  • 4G/5G or second-line failover
  • Line fault chasing and escalation
  • Router and line monitoring with alerts
05

Segmentation and compliance

Different kinds of traffic kept apart, to reduce risk and support audits.

  • Separation of guest, staff, payment and device networks
  • Support for card payment (PCI DSS) network requirements
  • Access control for sensitive systems
  • Evidence and documentation for auditors
06

Monitoring and ongoing care

Your network is watched, documented and reviewed, not left until it breaks.

  • Link, switch and Wi-Fi monitoring
  • Regular configuration reviews
  • Documentation kept current after every change
  • Planned upgrades before equipment reaches end of life
Cabling and connectivity

From the cable in the wall to the Wi-Fi in the room

01

Structured data cabling

Planned, labelled and tested cabling to every desk, room and device, so moves and changes stay simple.

02

Fibre optic links

High-bandwidth, long-reach connections between floors, buildings and cabinets, tested end to end.

03

Wi-Fi surveys and design

Access points placed from a proper survey, not guesswork, with the cabling to support them.

04

Cabinet tidy and refresh

Messy patching slows networks and causes downtime. We re-patch, label and refresh comms cabinets.

05

Moves, adds and changes

New desks, new rooms, office moves and downsizing handled without disrupting the rest of the network.

06

Multi-site rollouts

The same standard, designs and equipment applied across several sites in a planned programme.

07

Network refresh

Ageing switches, routers and cabling replaced on a plan, so you spend before things fail, not after.

08

Security networks

Cabling and network support for IP CCTV and other connected security equipment.

09

Remote access

Secure remote connectivity so your team and our support engineers can reach what they need.

Choosing the right cable

Match the cable to the job

Speed, distance and interference all matter. Copper is the right answer for most desks. Fibre is the right answer between buildings and for backbone links. Older Cat5 and Cat5e cabling often needs replacing to keep up with newer equipment.

Bars are indicative maximum speeds on standard cable types and are drawn on a compressed scale.

Cat5eup to 1 Gbps
Cat61 Gbps, 10 Gbps on short runs
Cat6Aup to 10 Gbps at full length
Cat7up to 10 Gbps, shielded
Cat825 to 40 Gbps, short runs only
Fibre10 Gbps and well beyond, over long distances
Wi-Fi done properly

Four ways to survey your Wi-Fi

01

Predictive survey

Used to plan a new Wi-Fi network, or to test the effect of an upgrade before you buy.

02

Passive survey

Measures signal strength and spots rogue access points and interference on your existing network.

03

Active survey

Tests real performance with many devices connected at once, such as in a busy office or event.

04

On-site access point survey

Temporary access points are placed on site to confirm coverage and speed before the final install.

Questions

Common questions

Can you work across several sites?

Yes. Our hospitality case study covers a restaurant group with multiple locations.

Do you supply the equipment?

We can recommend and supply what is right for your setup.

Can you help with PCI DSS?

Yes, network segmentation is one of the common fixes we have carried out.

How long does structured cabling last?

Well designed and maintained cabling often lasts 15 to 20 years. Older Cat5 and Cat5e may need replacing sooner to support newer speeds.

Do I need fibre?

Not for most desks. Fibre makes sense between buildings or floors, for backbone links and where distance or interference is a problem.

Why does Wi-Fi need good cabling?

Every access point is cabled back to the network. Poor cabling limits Wi-Fi speed however good the access points are.
